PARKER RANCH ROUND-UP CLUB LABOR DAY WEEKEND RODEO JUST AROUND THE CORNER- Horse Auction also featured

Waimea, Hawaii
The 37th Annual Parker Ranch Round-Up Club Rodeo will lasso in two days of rodeo events on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th, 2011 at the Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena in Waimea.

The action-packed weekend is held annually as a fundraiser to provide scholarships for school-age children of Parker Ranch employees.

Entries for the rodeo must be postmarked by August 22nd or hand-delivered to Parker Ranch headquarters no later than August 25th. Forms are available at the Parker Ranch Store, Waimea Feed Supply in Waimea, Miranda Country Store or Del’s Farm Supply in Hilo, and King’s Trail Ride in Kealakekua. Entries are available here:

Family-style fun begins on Saturday, September 3rd at 12 noon with rodeo events which may include everything from open and dally team roping and double mugging, and po’o wai u, to saddle bronc, bull riding, junior bull riding, Wahine barrel racing, Wahine steer undecorating, and more. Always fun and exciting to watch is the century team roping competition. (One team member must be over the age of 50 and their combined ages must be more than 100). The crowd is always on its feet for the keiki barrel racing for participants 12 & under, and mutton busting (keiki sheep riding).

On Sunday, The Round Up Club, in partnership with Parker Ranch will be hosting a live auction for saddle horses and 2-year old quarter horses. Come at 10 a.m. to participate in the auction and purchase a Parker Ranch horse. For non-riders, come and experience the fast pace of a Ranch horse auction. Please note that you will need to purchase a gate ticket to attend the auction.

Sunday’s rodeo action begins again at high noon with more excitement throughout the afternoon. Ono (delicious) food and refreshments will be available both days with on-going events lasting until 4:00 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per person in advance from the Parker Ranch Store at the Parker Ranch Center and at the Parker Ranch Headquarters in Waimea or $6 at the gate on rodeo days. Children 10 and under are free. For more information, call 808-885-7311.
