HISTORIC HOMES HOSTING SPECIAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVITIES

Parker Ranch’s Historic Homes once again merges activities with the Annual Cherry Blossom Heritage Festivities on Saturday, February 7, 2009 with special displays, demonstrations and performances throughout the day.

On festival day Kona’s East West Fine Arts Gallery owner Annu Shionoya has arranged demonstrations, song and dance performances to illuminate the Japanese and Okinawan cultures. Traditional Japanese art will be on display in the gallery through the months of January and February, courtesy of the East West Fine Arts Gallery.

Many guests and visitors look forward each year to Waimea resident Emi Wakayama’s traditional Japanese tea ceremony demonstrations, also known as Chanoyu or Sado.

Adding to the Historic Homes’ cultural activities, Gwen Joseph will demonstrate the intricate art of feather lei making.

Celebrate the day with Parker Ranch and the entire Waimea Community. Events are free and there will be complimentary shuttle service to all festivities.
