Waimea, Big Island of Hawaii ~ 11.24.08 ~ As the statewide celebration of 2008 as The Year of the Paniolo draws to a close, the Parker Ranch Store is chocked full of paniolo themed holiday gifts and décor. Catch any one of a number of special demonstrations in the coming weeks to meet the people behind products available on store shelves.
On Friday, November 28 shoppers can learn more about Linaka’s Soaps, handmade locally with fun scents and shapes that make perfect novelty gifts or stocking stuffers. On Saturday, December 6, Blue Kalo will offer samples of their famous and available only-at-the-Parker-Ranch-Store “Cow Pie.” One taste of this heavenly edible cow pie and you’ll know just what to leave for Santa on Christmas Eve.
Liko Lehua Products showcase their finest quality tropical fruit-flavored butters on Friday, December 12. Liko Lehua Butters are all natural, with no preservatives or additives. They come in irresistible flavors such as Lilikoi, coconut and Tahitian lime and will be remembered long after the jar is emptied.
On Saturday, December 13 from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Ilima Loomis will sign her new children’s book, “Kaimi’s First Round-up.” Illustrated by Don Robinson and published by Island Heritage, the book captures the traditions and lifestyles of the Paniolo.
Each demonstration is free to the public, and is from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
From unique ornaments shaped as boots, saddles, horses and hats to Parker Ranch’s own 100% Paniolo Coffee, the Year of the Paniolo is fully represented within the boundaries of the award-winning Parker Ranch Store open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Parker Ranch Center, Waimea.
