PARKER RANCH AND PANIOLO PRESERVATION SOCIETY HOSTING HISTORIC TRAIL RIDE

Parker Ranch’s 160th Anniversary Means Day of Fun for Riders

Parker Ranch, Cowboys of Hawai‘i at Parker Ranch, and Paniolo Preservation Society’s Waiomina Centennial are joining forces for a common goal, to present the Parker Ranch 160th Anniversary Historic Trail Ride and Barbecue on Sunday, June 17, 2007.

The Father’s Day ride will begin at Pukalani Stables at 9:00 a.m. and will travel past the Pu‘uhihale home corral to Pu‘u Holoholoku and return approximately 1:00 p.m. to the stables. Along the way, trail guide Corky Bryan, Vice President of Livestock Operations with Parker Ranch, will be joined by guides Alex Penovaroff, Allan Mendes, and Dr. Billy Bergin who will share their historical knowledge of the area. Wranglers from Cowboys of Hawai‘i at Parker Ranch will lead groups of riders accompanied by the trail guides with stops periodically along the way to “talk story” about the area. At the turnaround, drinks and snacks will be provided.

Upon the riders’ return to Pukalani Stables, a well-earned old-style wrangler’s barbecue will be served.

For riders participating with their own horse (no stallions please), the cost is just $35. Riders may also rent horses from Cowboys of Hawai‘i (first come basis) for a total cost of just $75. Non-riders are welcome to join the group after the ride for lunch only for a cost of $30.

Children ages 7 and up are welcome to participate, so saddle up the family and hit the trail with Parker Ranch, Paniolo Preservation Society and Cowboys of Hawai‘i! Space is limited so interested riders should call Keawe or Penny Vredenburg at 885-1904 for reservations and additional information no later than June 1, 2007.
