For several upcoming Fridays and/or Saturdays through April, the Parker Ranch Store will host unique island craft and/or product demonstrations. The demonstrations, free to the public, will be from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and will allow attendees to see, touch, feel, smell or taste a variety of works ranging from honey to herbal soaps and photos to Hawaiian-designed tees.
May 2, 2008: Just in time for Waimea’s May Day Celebration, Leo Mills returns to the Parker Ranch Store showcasing the art of feather lei making. Her popular lapel pins in the form of either our local favorite owl or majestic pheasant are a great authentic souvenir of the area. Her skill and dedication to this art is a must see! Also joining Leo is our local resident Patsy Shioji well known for her talent in stringing specialty flower leis. All flowers used are grown in the Waimea, Lalamilo Farmlot area, and her beautiful Ilima leis are very much in demand for local events! Please join us in admiring these two talented ladies. May 10, 2008: In honor of Mother’s Day we have invited Creative Native Crafts, all the way from Kalihi, on the Island of Oahu to join us for a scrapbooking demonstration! What better way to touch MOM with beautiful and fun memories of Parker Ranch and Waimea in a loving book. Known for destination kits to preserve their island memories, we are happy to have this locally owned company show us the way to mom’s heart! Come in on Aloha Saturday (this week) from 9am -12pm. We have our very own Parker Ranch scrapbooking kits, decorative papers, and die-cuts available for purchase. E Komo Mai.
May 16th – Rhona from Island Plantations visits us from 9am – 1pm with their yummy jams and syrups. Come enjoy the flavors of the islands with tropical fruit jams and jellies including everyone’s favorite Lilikoi! Their syrups are a sure hit at the breakfast table or a wonderful accompaniment on your favorite ice-cream. Enjoy the tropical flavored teas of the islands in soothing delightful blends. Each flavor is an excellent choice as a gift for someone special or as a treat for yourself. Welcome to the Islands!
May 23rd – Our very own Linda from Fun Time Soaps will showcase her talent in soap making. Her fun glycerin’s are a must have for every little cowgirl or cowboy. Bath time will be a “Fun Time” with a surprise toy waiting at the bottom of every bar. They include fun scents, that would be sure to tickle their fancy, like bubble gum, cotton candy, watermelon, and ocean.
