ARTIST IAN HAIGHT RETURNS TO PUUOPELU GALLERY

Ian Haight

Ocean Scenes and Hawaiian Wildlife are Show Centerpieces

In March and April visitors to Parker Ranch’s Puuopelu Gallery might feel wiped out by an eight foot wave or sense they can reach out and touch a Hawaiian Monk Seal. Such is the reality of Ian Haight’s acrylic paintings. Haight will be the guest artist at Parker Ranch’s Puuopelu Historic Home Gallery throughout March and April 2008.

The artist will host a reception, open to the public, on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Reservations for this complimentary reception are required and can be made by calling the Historic Homes at 885-5433.

Hawaiian ocean themes and native animal life have always dominated Haight’s subject matter. His art comes from his life experiences as a surfer and island person. Haight’s signature waves, Hawaiian marine life, and landscapes are created with acrylics as well as mixed media with oils, molding paste, and pallet knife work, adding texture to create more movement.

The Historic Homes and Gardens at Parker Ranch are available for touring from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday with the last tour of the day starting at 4:00 p.m. Admission is $9.00 for adults, $8.50 for seniors and $7.00 for children younger than 12.
